All members need to be familiar with the Rules and Regulations detailed in this document. By paying your annual dues, you have agreed to all of the Rules and Regulations set forth by the Sunset Hills Recreational Association (Board) for the 2024 swimming season.
Members are responsible for the conduct of their guest(s). Failure to follow the Rules and Regulations by a member or their guest(s) can result in restriction or revocation of membership.
Situations not covered in these rules and regulations will be determined by the Pool Manager in consultation with the Board.
POOL HOURS OF OPERATION
Monday – Friday 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Exceptions:
– It may be necessary to close the pool early due to cool weather (temp. below 70 degrees), health or safety hazard exists, hazardous weather (lightning or thunder present), pool maintenance or repair situations (including decontamination of the pool), etc.
– The pool will close early for home swim meets. This notice will be posted at the pool and on the Sunset Hills Pool website and an e-mail will be sent out to the membership as a reminder.
– The pool hours of operation on Monday through Friday will change in mid-August around the time school is back in session. This notification of pool hour changes will be posted at the pool and on the Sunset Hills Pool website.
ADMISSION
Admission to the pool may be refused to anyone when the health or safety of the other members is in jeopardy. This would include, but is not limited to: skin eruptions, cuts, sore or lesion, eye, ear, nose or throat infection, and intoxication. Swimmers are required to shower before entering the pool.
All members and guests are required to check in at the front desk. Guests may use the pool only when accompanied by a member (18 and over) for a fee of $5 per day. The member must be present at the pool during the entire visit of the guest.
Children age 12 years and older are able to attend the pool unsupervised. All other children must have adult supervision at all times.
Members who are babysitters/nannies must be 15 years or older. If they are bringing non-member children, they are required to register the children as guests at each visit and pay the guest fee for each child.
Non-member babysitters/nannies who care for member children can be added to the membership of the family they are babysitting for a one-time fee of $30. This fee does not allow the non-member or their children to use the pool and facilities when not accompanied by the member.
AUTHORIZED AREAS
Only authorized people (staff and board members) are allowed in the office. There is to be no loitering around the front office area.
Only staff members are allowed on lifeguard chairs.
Only authorized personnel or board members are allowed in the pump room, heater room or supply room.
Only authorized personnel are allowed in the snack shack.
BABY POOL
The use of the baby pool is restricted to children 6 years old and under. Children must be supervised at all times. Swim diapers are required for all children that are not toilet trained.
PERSONAL FLOATATION DEVICES
Personal floatation devices such as noodles, rafts and rings are only allowed in the pool during family swim time on the weekends. During family swim these small floatation devices are allowed at the discretion of the pool staff. The staff reserves the right to limit floatation devices at any time. Exceptions for children or adults with special needs may be granted at the discretion of the pool staff.
Water wings, puddle jumpers and life jackets are strictly forbidden at all times. If you have a special circumstance that requires a life jacket, please reach out to the Board of Directors for review at contactus@sunsethillspool.com.
DIVING AND FLIPS OFF THE SIDE
Flips off the side of the pool are never allowed for safety reasons. Diving off the side of the pool is only allowed in the deep end of the pool when the lifeguard has closed the diving board and opened the deep end for swimming.
DIVING BOARD AND SLIDE
Only one person may use the diving board or slide at a time. The next person in line must wait at the bottom of the ladder and not proceed until the board or slide is clear. The person going off the diving board and slide must wait until the area has completely cleared before proceeding.
Open swimming in the deep end of the pool must be approved by the lifeguard on duty.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES
Food and beverages are not allowed in the pool or on the pool deck. Please leave all food and beverages at your tables and/or lounge chairs. Glass or other breakable containers are not allowed anywhere on the property, this includes the pool deck, bathrooms and pavilion. There are no exceptions to this rule.
ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES
Illegal substances are prohibited on pool property. Any member/guest found in possession of an illegal substance will be reported to the proper authorities and may result in loss of family membership.
LOST AND FOUND
The pool is not responsible for any loss or theft of property on pool grounds or in the parking lot. We suggest that all vehicles and bicycles be locked at all times The lost and found is located under the stairs next to the men’s restroom. Contents will be removed periodically and donated to a local charity.
PARKING
Parking is available in the lot to the east of the pool facility. Do not park in the grass or in any area that is not designated as a parking spot. If you do park in a spot that is not a parking spot, you will be asked to move your vehicle.
PROPERTY DAMAGE Abuse of pool facilities (toilets, showers or faucets) and furniture (chairs, tables or umbrellas) is prohibited. At the discretion of pool staff and the Board, the member will be charged for damages willfully caused by any family member or guest.
RESTRICTIONS
No smoking is allowed on entire property.
No glass containers or pets are permitted in the pool area.
No skateboarding/rollerblades are allowed on pool property (parking area, sidewalks, pool deck, etc.)
No running, fighting, pushing, spitting, dunking, cursing etc. will be allowed on the pool property. The pool manager or pool staff will handle discipline problems. If a problem seems to persist, this will be reported to the board for review. Repeated offenses may result in suspension of privileges.

SAFETY BREAKS
The pool will be cleared for an adult swim/safety break for the last 10 minutes of every hour. Adults 18 and older will only be allowed in the pool during this time. The baby pool will also be cleared during this time for a safety break. The last safety break of the day will not have adult swim in order to allow the members time to clear the pool area in a timely manner before closing.
A lifeguard will be posted during adult swim. Children are to be completely out of the pool during this time (i.e. no feet in water).
SUGGESTIONS AND COMPLAINTS
Your suggestions and comments are always welcome. Suggestions, comments or complaints should be directed to the manager on duty or to a Board member by emailing us.
TRESPASSING
Any member found in the pool area without permission after the pool closes may have their membership suspended for two weeks from ALL pool activities. Members and non-members will be reported to the proper authorities for trespassing. Repeated offenses may result in loss of membership.
